diy – magical pumpkin mickey

SPOOKY SEASON IS UPON US!

Happy Friday everyone! I am so excited for the fall season! Are you?!

I’ve been missing Disney so much, especially now that it’s fall. This is my FAVORITE time of year in the Disney parks! The Fall and Halloween decor, the themed overlays on the attractions, the seasonal treats and OF COURSE the sippers and popcorn buckets! (Which I am so sad I’m missing out on this year, as Disneyland is still closed. Tears.)

So I needed a little piece of Fall-oween themed Disneyland here at home with me.

So let’s make some MAGICAL PUMPKIN MICKEYS!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • THREE Pumpkins – 1 larger one, and 2 smaller ones (for the ears)
    • Your pumpkins can be any size you want! Just try to keep the ears proportionate to the head with Mickey Mouse in mind!
  • Some fall colored leaves, greenery; anything you want to decorate your pumpkin. Something to give it a little extra pizazz! (Yes, I totally just used the word pizazz!)
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun & hot glue sticks
  • Some skinny wood skewers – (optional). You could just use hot glue only, however this gives your pumpkin a lot more sturdiness! This way, you can pack it away and bring it back as decor for many years to come!

AND THAT’S ALL!

I found my pumpkins at Hobby Lobby and they were 40% off. In total, this pumpkin diy cost me less than $20 and took less than 20 minutes! Also – you may be able to find cheaper pumpkins! I just really loved the natural gourd look to these ones! So hunt for the best bargains and gather your supplies!

LET’S GET STARTED!

My pumpkins and leaves!
Supplies! – You only need the pointy end of 2 wooden skewers.

FIRST THINGS FIRST!

Grab your 2 smaller pumpkins and gently twist and pull the stems off. Depending on the pumpkins you choose, the method of getting rid of the stems may be different. You may have to cut them off. But mine were super easy to gently twist and pull to remove. And since mine were attached to even smaller pumpkins, I get 2 extra pumpkins to use as decor!

Okay, next step!

Break off about a 3 inch piece of your skewer (the pointy side), and choose where on your large pumpkin you want the ears to sit. (Mark the spot with a pen if that will make it easier for you!) Poke your skewer in. Then you’ll remove the skewer and do the same thing to the bottom of your small pumpkin. Leave the skewer in the small pumpkin.

The bottom of my small pumpkin. Don’t forget to leave that skewer in!

You’re doing great! NEXT STEP!

Now you want to take your small pumpkin with the skewer and start pushing the skewer into the large pumpkin. But stop about half way! – Because now we’re going to add some hot glue underneath to keep the ear locked into place.

You’re just going to put some hot glue around the bottom of the small pumpkin with the skewer and now push the ear down into the large pumpkin. It should feel pretty locked into place!

NOW WE REPEAT ON THE OTHER SIDE!

Now you should have your PUMPKIN MICKEY!

IT’S SO CUUUUUUUUTE!

NOW LET’S MAKE IT EVEN CUTER!

This is the part where you get to do whatever you want! Add your embellishments, make it fun! You’re just going to use your hot glue gun to attach your leaves, greenery or any decoration you bought! I just snipped off a few leaves and glued them on. Add as many or as little as you’d like! Whatever you lil’ heart desires!

And voila! That is it! You are done!

Now you have your very own piece of fall-oween Disney inspired magic in your home! I may even have to make a few more of these! I don’t think one is enough! Hehehe!

I hope you loved this as much as I loved making it and sharing it with all of you!

magical notebook w/ happy planner discs + free printable! ♡

happy magical monday! feelin’ crafty?

Hi guys! I thought I would show you the notebook I put together to keep track of blog stuff, plan my posts, etc! (This is NOT something I came up with; people have been doing this with Happy Planner discs for years!)

I just wanted to show you the one I made for myself and offer a FREE PRINTABLE of the “notebook paper” I made for the inside of mine!

If you’d like to make your own notebook, here’s what you’ll need!

Mini Happy Planner discs (I get mine at Michaels!)

Printer/Printer paper (I usually use 28lb paper for any planner inserts, but I went with standard printer paper for this because I wanted my notebook really full, so I went with a low cost paper.)

Paper trimmer – Amazon, Michaels, etc!

Disc punch – I use Happy Planner brand, purchased at Michaels

Cardstock/decorative paper – Anything you want to use for a cover! Laminating it would be best!

Stickers/photos/etc – Anything you’d like to decorate it with!

Tabs (To mark certain pages if you want)

Let’s get started! It’s extremely easy and you probably won’t even need my guidance but I’ll go step by step just in case!

  1. Download & print the FREE PRINTABLE below! (Print double sided at 100%)

2. Trim along the guidelines and punch sheets with the disc punch. Be careful not to do too many at once unless you have a heavy duty punch!

3. Carefully load your paper into the discs; I do small chunks at a time!

4. Choose your cardstock/decorative paper and decorate it with photos, stickers etc! MAKE IT YOU! Laminating it will give you extra sturdiness! Punch it and place one in the front and the back of your notebook!

5. Start using your notebook! You can use it as a journal, planner, anything you want! Add tabs if you’d like to mark certain pages!

THAT’S IT! HAVE FUN & THANKS FOR STOPPING BY!

COMING THIS WEEK: MAGICAL MICKEY KRISPIES – WHAT!?

blog intro + missing disney ♡

being at disney is like dreaming with your eyes open ♡

Hi everyone! I’m Haley and welcome to my blog! I’m actually like, so excited to be doing this and I’m so happy you’re here!

For my very first blog post I thought I would just post a little throwback photo of me at one of my favorite places in the world!

D I S N E Y L A N D !

Since Disney is currently closed due to Covid-19, and I have no idea when I’ll be able to go back, I’ve been going through all of my old park photos and reminiscing! *tears*

I just miss it so much!

Disneyland is definitely my happy place! What is your happy place?! I would love to know in a comment below!

The spot I’m standing at in the photo above is one of my favorite places to take pictures at in California Adventure! No matter what time of day, it’s always such a beautiful backdrop. It’s also where the World of Color show is at night! -> Behind me, you see the Incredicoaster (love this ride), which used to be themed/named California Screamin’, and the ginormous ferris wheel you see is Mickey’s Fun Wheel. It’s now called the Pixar Pal Around, but I just call it the fun wheel.

Actually that’s not true…

What I call it is MICKEY’S FUN WHEEL OF DEATH because that thing scares the heck out of me! Those baskets you see on the ferris wheel, where people sit, slide around and swing back and forth. If you want a good laugh, look up some videos on YouTube and you’ll see the terror I speak of. Hence why, I do not go on this ride. It’s literally my nightmare. But I do love to watch it safely from the ground! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! All right, I’ll stop ranting about the Death Wheel. I mean, Fun Wheel.

I’ll say this though:

If I could have life go back to some sort of “normalcy” right now, I would gladly ride that thing if it meant I could be back at the Happiest Place on Earth.

*cries*

♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡

So I have to know. Do ferris wheels freak you out? Giant ones with terrifying swinging baskets? I’d love to know. LOL!

Hopefully this wasn’t too random or all over the place. I’m sure it will take me a bit to ease into this! THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE!

I hope you don’t mind if this blog is a little bit of this & a little bit of that! A little bit of everything I find to be A LITTLE MAGICAL!

I’ll be posting more park photos on the blog soon!

ONE last thing before I end this… What are some things YOU would like to see here?! LET ME KNOW BELOW! I want this to be your happy place too.

Below you’ll find a list of some of the things I’ll be posting about here! I hope you’ll come along on this journey with me! ♡

See ya real soon! ♡ Haley
